It is really important to have well prepared skis. Race courses are often icy and there is nothing worse than having trained well on the stade, only to go sideways on the 'Fleche' course down to La Daille because it is icy and your skis aren't sharp enough. It is genuinely impossible to perform to your best if your kit is not up to scratch.

Understandably, many of our junior racers hire their skis whilst they are still growing. Sadly, often skis from hire shops are poorly tuned and this can lead to problems. Please come to us before making the decision to take skis to any old rental shop in town. There are only a handful of people qualified to do a race tune in Val d'Isere, and it just so happens that one of them is our head coach at MM Race, Rupert!

For that reason, we offer a race tuning service before race days. Those who have used this will know that your skis will get the best race tune available in town for much less than the shops charge and your skis are collected in the evening and dropped off to you the following morning. Skis are tuned to 87 degrees, (whereas most rental shops will tune them at 88/90 degrees.) The skis will aslo be waxed using the correct temperature of wax for that specific day's race rather than being put through a machine in a shop. It is a personalised service that you won't get anywhere else.

The ski tuning service costs €35 a pair. Contact your coach during your week to arrange a pickup, service and drop off.
