Racing - What A Typical Week Looks Like
A typical race week with us runs over five mornings from 90.00am to 12.45pm. If the weather and other external factors allow, a normal week would consist of the following elements;
- Monday - Technical training outside of the gates with some training in Giant Slalom towards the end of the session. Maybe a run through the snowpark, down 'La Face' and then back down to the meeting point at the end of the session.
- Tuesday - Giant Slalom training. We set our own course on the race piste and then race head to head in the parallel slalom at the end of the session.
- Wednesday - Giant Slalom race. An official race down to 'La Daille' (depending on the time of the season) and an official result for taking part.
- Thursday - Slalom training. We set our own courses, often through stubbie gates for those who are new to the discipline and full sized gates for those with the skills and race protection required to do so.
- Friday - Slalom race. Our own race on the race piste, this is with two timed runs and the opportunity for parents and friends to watch and try as well. This is followed by a round up in the café, with our own team medals and merchandise up for grabs.
We generally break for around thirty minutes in the middle of each training session, giving everyone a chance to have a snack and a drink, during which time we analyse the video from the first part of the session before going back out again to put it all into action. Most sessions finish with a run down 'La Face de Bellevarde' (black run) back to the meeting point.
